They've been delaying this for like... a really REALLY long time... but they finally put out an announcement and details about the Chicago Con in July. Looks like it's happening for rizzeal. Of course the fact that they didn't do this until four months before the Con date has held some people back, but it does look like great fun. Clue, Shock Treatment, and Rocky casts (a la Wichita). I was highly amused by the absolutely mandatory 15 seconds of Michael Jackson's Thriller which must be included in each pre-show number.
The cat's out of the bag...
I know you've all been hearing rumblings for a while now... But after a
long time in the works, we're proud to be able to finally make the
official announcment! The Chicago con IS ON!
UN-TOUCHA-TOUCHABLES, the Chicago Rocky Horror Area Performers' (CRHAP)
2006 Convention, is happening this summer, July 27th through the 30th!
Chicago hasn't had a convention since 1989, when we brought Richard
O'Brien to the Windy City and he taught us all the Transylvanian Anthem
and Oath. We hope to make this year's convention just as memorable.
We're still finalizing the schedule of events, but we've got a lot of
really cool stuff in the works. Look for the best of the past, as well
as new twists on all your old favorites, including:
- a "Rocky Horror mafia" style meet-and-greet speakeasy party
- all star-performances of Rocky Horror, Shock Treatment, and CLUE!
- a vaudeville variety show extravaganza
- thrilling pre-shows
- Rocky, Shocky, and creative costume contests
- vendor tables for memorabilila, costumes, and crafts
- karaoke with a LIVE BAND
- deathmatch kickball in Grant Park... oh, and a picnic
- a live chat site and photo feed from the con
- raffles, contests, panels, awards, and MORE!
We promise you won't be disappointed! For the bulk of our convention
events, we've secured the historic (and affordable!) Congress Hotel,
located in the heart of downtown Chicago. It's central to museums,
shopping, Navy Pier, public transportation, the lake, Millenium Park,
and just about everything else you'd ever want to do in Chicago.
Additionally, we'll be hosting the all-star Rocky show at the
beautifully restored Music Box Theater, base of operations for Midnight
Madness for the past 4 years (transportation will be provided).
