I've heard mixed reviews. A friend of mine thought it was awesome, although I am a skeptic. I still want to see it though, just to make up my own mind. :)

I honestly really liked it. I loved the fight between Anakin and Obi-Wan. It was just about as dark as Empire Strikes Back. In my opinion, I think it is the best of the prequels.

I agree, although that's not really saying very much.

Oh look, Episode 3 is coming out. It should be better than the other two. Of course, that's like saying dirt is better than shit.

I haven't seen the new one. I didn't until this month. Now I want to. The previews are really playing up the darkness and conflict, which has been noticeably absent in the recent installments of a series devoted to war stretching across a galaxy. I'm praying.

To be honest, I'll need to see it again. The pizza may have granted me some nap time. On the plus side, a pretty blonde woman sat next to me and kept crossing her legs and taking off her sandals. I enjoyed watching her.

Remember folks:

Quote:
Lucas hadn't released a "Star Wars" film for fifteen years when Episode One came out. He was just rusty. It takes a while to remember the delicate balance of pretty effects and piss-poor acting that are needed for a good "Star Wars" film.

the same can be said for hitchhikers guide, which i personally thought was a complete let-down. i mean, it was almost sickening how grotesquely they deviated from the actual story. but my girlfriend got a kick out of it.

It wasn't that bad. Of course I'm the person that feel asleep twice.

Post subject:

I read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Not the rest of them.

Let me say, I haven't seen this film yet.............

How can you bitch about it devaiting from the book????????????????

Every aspect of hitchhikers is differnet from everyother version..........

BBc Radio........
BBc Tv............
The Books.......
& the rest of them.

Mr. Adams his own self said it changed everytime .
He couldn't keep it sraight so, how could Hollywood.

The movie has gotten good reviews.........
My favorite review.................................

Let me say I've never heard of Hitchhikers guide..........
I thought I was going to see a Comedy........................
I was........................................................................

The joke was on me.............................................I just didn't get some of the jokes....People all around were laughing & had a good time.

I became clear that they knew something I didn't. I should have read the book. Lines that made no sense mad people go crazy!

20 minutes into the film, I left.

I will see this film later, after I read the book.
If you know hitchhiker........you shold love thiis.
If you don't know the book............................
Read the book or go see it with a fan who can explain it.

See, I went into it completely open-minded, as Douglas Adams was on board with the screenplay adaption.
Honestly, I felt like they tried to make the jokes too contemporary. The only new part to the movie I honestly feel came from Douglas' head was the POV gun...

EDIT: I was referring to Hitchhiker's, not Star Wars, still havnt seen episode III yet.

Thinking like this with all movies would be like justifying the last Harry Potter movie. Not possible.

Overall, I liked Episode III. The digital "print" (only at Highland 10) was really crisp and gorgeous. The sound was great. The movie was pretty good, I thought. I've never been a big fan, though. The whole Wookiee thing could have been left out.

Jessiy, I have to agree on your statement, assuming you're talking about Azkaban. That movie just felt like it had no heart. Something was missing. I didn't give a damn about a single character in that one. Go fig.

well, as a long time fan of the book i can bitch a lot about the movie deviating from the book. thats how. errr...

likewise i was a fan of the tv show, i used to own it on vhs. i have yet to actually hear the radio show but whatever. bottom line, it seems that the movie was changed drastically from the book to make it appeal to the general public as a whole. the whole love-story scenario was terribly predictable and let a whole shitload of air out of the whole story. and how do the tv show and the books differ? the tv show is the book almost word for word. dude, attempt to make sense, please. like, take a stab at it.

sure it was fun to watch but enormous chunks of it lacked a great deal of relevance to the book. it was like the Godfather III. it would have been a superb movie had it not had the word "Godfather" anywhere in the title.

on the other hand, i loved episode 3. i never read that book though so i probably have no frame of reference and i will respect the opinions of anyone that has read the books and i will not attempt to work this into some sort of "devil's advocate" thing where i try to be a dick to someone else that has an opinion where the book is concerned.

for the most part i thought it was the best of the first 3 episodes. unkiddified for the most part (see episode 1), dramatic, easy on the romantic angle (see episode 2) and generally more interesting. slap on a side of closure and feel happy knowing that the best part was NOT buying tickets online so you didnt have to stand in line with people between the ages of 12 to 35 brandishing light sabres and gaffe sticks while sporting capes and jedi robes and speaking wookish and otherwise acting too geeky to get into a star trek convention.

maybe im wrong.

Thanks for your always unvarnished opinion. We can always count on you to not sugar coat anything. I have not seen the Hitchhikers movie yet. I will see it once it comes out on DVD. I don't feel that I should spend money on it. All I've heard from diehard fans is how stupid it is. I've heard that they set up jokes in the book, and never give a punchline. I will reserve my opinion until I see it, but come on.....a romance with Trillian? Vogons being hit....what the hell? *grumble*
And no, I haven't seen Episode III either.

Quintin Tarantino liked it too :D

You like Quintin Tarantino...

... if you like Quintin Tarantino... and you want him to be happy... you'll like the movie too...

... for Quintin's sake...

The best on-screen version of War and Peace I've ever seen was made in the USSR in 1968. It was over six hours long and was released in two parts, each with an intermission. Over four hours of it was war (for those of you unfamiliar with the story, Napoleon invaded Russia). It used the Soviet Army as extras for the battle scenes, some of which showed over one million people on the screen at the same time, no computer graphics.

As awesome of a movie as it is, and it is truly awesome (I've been lobbying the Paramount unsuccessfully for years to show it), it does not even come close to the breadth and artistry of the magnificent novel.

Incidentally, if you decide to read it, it would help to make a list of names -- they change a lot as people get titles, lose land, get married, die, etc.

I guess my point is that books and movies are two different art forms and while it's fun to see a favorite book made into a good movie (LOTR), it also means that one's imagination may be forever constrained by the images someone else has chosen.

And words themselves can be a sort of poetry that is different from visual images or sound.

I absolutely LOVE Star Wars in all of it's glorious forms (although, like many, didn't like I and II), but III really did surprise me. I thought it was pretty fucking good, aside from a few minor annoyances and Hayden Christensen's shitty acting (although he was better in this one than the last one). Overall though, I really liked it. And I'm gonna get to see it often and for free, mwahahaha bitches! I can get 3 people in on passes (aka FREE) with me for any movie just so long as it isn't sold out. I am happy.

yea EP.III was good......better than what i thought but still not as good as The Empire Strikes Back. supposly EP.III was to be an R rated movie. I'm just hopeing that they make a cartoon series to tell the story between EP.III and EP. IV, as there are alot plot holes. thats what happened at first betwee II & III untill the cartoon series tied everything together.
