Kudos to Raini for actually being motivated enough to contact the Chronicle and set this up!

I am super impressed that Raini did it too!

On a side note, I'm really glad I was there for the interview. He really listened to what I had to say, and quoted me verbatum. Way to make me feel useless...

Aw Brit. Well you can't win em all, at least it's out there... despite the fact that it's a little insulting.

On the plus side, I've already gotten one e-mail out of the blue that started with "I read the article in the Austin Chronicle online just now, and...".

Well, cool that our existence has been acknowledged, and in print and kudos to Raini for making it happen! Various people have made an effort in the past to get them to do it, but we never could get them to do it. (Particularly frustrating back in the period when they'd review things like a night at the laundromat or a day on capitol metro as part of the Live Shots column, but wouldn't come review us...) I really could have done without an entire (LONG!) paragraph of snark on the linecalling, but overall it was a decent piece.
Marjorie Baumgarten has always been great to us. HEARTS TO HER!
and to Bobbi!!! I started out at Rocky in 78 as a loud voice in the dark, though in person I shook like a leaf in the bookstore when i had to actually look at the clerk when paying. (Ironically, same clerk was tending bar the first night I went into a gay bar... hello...) All thosre stray voices belonged to shy misfit (mainly gay) people who formed aclose-knit group in a town we didn't get much love from anywhere else. I never expected I'd still be doing it in the next century but I'm GLAD it turned out that way. AND i'M GLAD bOBBI BROUGHT THAT REALLY IMPORTANT PART OF THE WHOLE THING TO PEOPLWE'S ATTENTION.

i didn't mean to do that last sentence in all caps like bellowing in print... had a pregnant cat jump on my keyboard-thud-and was afraid it'd erase the whole damn thing if i tried to fix it... like it has before, very frustrating pecking with my glasses off...

And Chibbi's foto is on auschron.com home page right now!

As for "annoying lack of synchronization" amongst the line yellers, WTF? What are we, trained seals? If you want to know what's being said, try attending a few dozen or scores of shows like the rest of us! Don't come whining to me -- I'm not your wet nurse unless you just really crave agéd spermatazoa...

Great photo. If I'm not mistaken, Xavier took that photo. I didn't see a photo credit.

"Court case! Court case!"

Remind me to tell you the story of the hooker at the birthday party my freshman year in college. My roommate was taking a shower, and she went into the men's room, pulled back the shower curtain, and grabbed him down there.

Losing his temper, he raised his hand with his finger extended and shouted to the room full of revelers, "Court case! Court case!"

David, still laughing and not at that party

I sent them a whole bunch of photos and was at work so I didn't have time to sort through and add photo credit. I'm sorry :D
