Just a little something. Even though most of you would probably rather have me dead, think of the others.......... :)

CANDLELIGHT VIGIL SET: TRANSGENDER DAY OF REMEMBRANCE

AUSTIN - On Thursday, November 20, at 6:30 p.m., a candlelight vigil
will be held at the University of Texas Main Mall, in front of the UT
Tower. The event is part of the internationally coordinated 5th Annual
Transgender Day of Remembrance to be held in at least 50 cities
worldwide. This is the second year that the vigil has been observed in
Austin.

As of October 11, at least 16 transgendered individuals have been
murdered in the United States and Canada this year. The list includes
the killing of two women in Houston in June and July of this year.
Those crimes, like many against transgendered individuals, remain
unsolved.

"This event gives us an opportunity to remember those who have died
simply because they were perceived as 'different'," said Lisa Scheps,
one of the organizers of the vigil. "This is an opportunity for
individuals, both in and out of the gender community to come together
and say, 'This is wrong. Stop the killing.'"

The vigil is being sponsored by Transgender Advocates of Central
Texas, the Women's Resource Center, the Lesbian Gay Rights Lobby of
Texas, the Austin Latino/Latina Lesbian Gay Bisexual & Transgender
Organization, OutYouth, PFLAG, LBGSA, She Says, Alliance for a
Feminist Option, the Texas Gender Advocacy and Information Network,
the National Transgender Advocacy Coalition, Safe Place,
Transformations Psychotherapy Services, The Live Oak Council of
Covenant of the Goddess, Project Transitions, CTTGS and the Alpha Tau
Chapter of Tri-Ess.

WTF? How is any of this specific to the transgendered? If you replaced the word 'transgendered' with 'disabled' or any other adjective, then I'm sure it'd be just as true. Are they actually trying to imply that these particular murder cases are purposely unsolved just because they were transgendered? Come on...

Yeah... I'll be holding a candle-light vigil over at my place for all the unsolved murder cases involving strait people, which I have a hunch might outnumber the tranny ones. IT'S A CONSPIRACY!!! There will be punch and pie...

I think the killings you refer to are random. These are specific because of who and what the person is. I think we would hold a vigil for you if you got killed for having long blond hair and wearing tie dye t-shirts. Same as when there's a big ruckus when a black person get's killed for being black. Hate crimes. Not random robberies.

But if the crimes are unsolved, how can anyone possibly know that they were hate crimes? I mean, did they leave a big calling card at the scene that said "Young Republicans For Traditional Family Values" or something? Damn those assumptions...

Alright, that face seemed a bit too full of the mirth. I laughed, but not so hard I cried. Sorry, I've been told I'm too specific...you think it's true?
