A few years older than Heath Ledger, but still... geez. And a hell of a career by that age. 231 episodes as Luanne in King of the Hill. Clueless. Drop Dead Gorgeous. Sin City. Many things I loved.

Jennifer Jones also passed away recently at age 90... she was a big star in the 40s and 50s. I liked her in the fantasy "Portrait of Jennie" and as the title's trashy bad girl in "Ruby Gentry," which was on tv a lot when I was a kid.

Crap! I just found out today...Dan O'Bannon, who cowrote (among other things) Alien, Heavy Metal, Return of the Living Dead (which he also directed) and Lifeforce, passed away Dec. 19. The man gave me some sublime scares in dark theaters over the years. RIP.

It really wasn't though it was based on a novel by one of my favorite authors, Colin Wilson. But still...the rest of his output.. And he worked on "Dark Star" too, among many other things...
