<RANT>

WTF? Austin gets diddly shit, but Houston gets snow? Galveston gets 4"? Victoria gets 10"? WTF? Victoria? Fucking Victoria?

Of course, I'm only pissed 'cause Corpus fucking Christi got 4.4", an all-time record beating the snow they got in 1895. The one time in my life that it snowed there (where I grew up), it was 1", and I was 3 years old. Again, WTF? Last time it snowed here in Austin, I was where? Corpus fucking Christi, that's where. How's that for semi-irony?

</RANT>

Oh, um, Merry Christmas everyone.

Stevo, you were 3 years old in 1895? You look really good for your age!

Fucking Victoria had ten inches?!? What the fuck, indeed. I know folks who'd be screaming to have ten inches, let alone ten inches of snow.

I had heard both Houston and Galveston were given snow. I couldn't believe my ears. They had as much snow as we did. Something's wrong with that picture. I recall when I attended university in San Angelo we had a tornado touch down near campus and snow the next morning.

Ashes to ashes...

The mountains look beautiful out here. The air's really clear, and there's snow all over. My dad's backyard was covered in snow day B4 Xmas.
You can see for miles. Although it's awful cold to go out and smoke. LOL

Ooops, was that excessive jubilation on my part earlier?
At least for once something good happened in Corpus. (However I was reading the police blotter column in the paper there this weeekend, and it was all stolen grinches, santas, reindeer, etc... at one house the even stole the lights and the fuse box! It's like some sick joke in that town that you can nail it down, chain it with batttleship chains, you name it, and if it's in your front yard, whatever it is, someone will steal it!)
Last time I remember it snowing there (a very flimsy amount indeed) I was in junior high, and it caused quite a lot of excitement, we were all watching out the windows (however, any excitement we could get, we were pathetically thrilled with, growing up there!)... the paper said this was February 1973, and I was 14, so I would guess that was when Stevo was in diapers...

SO there I am sitting in line in Beeville, it is cold, i have an hour or so before we get in to check point one and there is snow on the ground, so i adventurous me throw snowballs at my car where sarah is sitting in warmth, then using minimal amount of skill and uber amout of balance i write "I ~ CHAD" i couldn't manage a heart so i squiggly line was enough.

After going through all you have t to go into see him we are walking up and low and behold there is a Snowman! Yeah Snowman Guard Boss Bob. We are in talking to Chad about all the white christmas things outside and he says he knows and that they--the Jolly Christmas inmates had a snowball fight behind the gaurds back and it was fun. Yeah snow in jail and yeah to Snowman Boss Bob, who was only about a foot shorter when we left thatn when we went in.

I don't even think it was a full foot shorter at that point, and the sun was out and everything. It was awesome though.

By "we", I assume you mean the Austin area. We had a dandy around this time in '96. I'm talking about Corpus, though. Snow in Corpus is extremely rare. In Austin, it's just special. In Corpus, it's a major event. A sign of the Apocalypse, perhaps.

The last time it snowed in Austin (Mid February 2004), I was in Corpus. That was my point. (If I actually had one...)

Yeah, the freeze of late 96 was pretty awful, but in a cool way. Err, good way. Except for slipping on ice all over the place. Still kinda neat. Icicles n shit. Cooooool.

<KIDS DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME>
I remember back in '87 riding around late night whilst on Ecstacy. Bauhaus on the radio, and it was snowing as we were driving along 360. The snowflakes caught in the headlights and looked like stars at warp speed. Groovy. We got out and walked around on the "360 Bridge".

Someone said that smokers in Chicago often pass out because when it's cold, they don't know when they've finished exhaling.

When I had a backyard, and there was a hard freeze alert, I used to go out and turn on all the sprinklers -- made lots of icicles etc. One day there was a knock on the door, and a kid asked me, "Mister, can we play on your ice?"

I asked him what his mother said and did not hear back.

Cold weather is fun because I can pretend I'm moving north without having to pack.

My sister got a White Christmas in Clear Lake City, just across Clear Creek from Galveston County.

I think I read that one year (not at Christmas) Galveston Bay froze over.
