Finally have a release timeframe:

http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=4444
Quote:
The major [Blu-Ray] catalog titles scheduled to street during the third and fourth quarters of [2010] are:

...
* The Rocky Horror Picture Show 35th Anniversary: new special features including live cast re-enactments and RHPS karaoke
...

So sometime between July and December this year. What do you want to bet that the release date ends up being a few weeks before Halloween?

I remember when people bought the 20th Anniversary Laserdisc without owning a laserdisc player, too. And of course there are still half a dozen copies of it available on eBay at any given time.

French Blu-Ray announced for Rocky also, along with an actual release date (September 15th):

http://www.planete-hd.com/Rocky-Horror-Picture-Show-en-details-article-a342.html
http://www.amazon.fr/Rocky-horror-picture-show-Blu-ray/dp/B003T0M65U/

Google translation of that announcement, which actually had more details than the U.S. announcement:

Quote:
The publisher has announced a newly remastered version (MPEG 4) to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the film. Packed full of happiness for the fans that we are, we can see the film with a soundtrack in DTS HD Master Audio 7.1!

We thus meet again the movie in its English version AND in its American version. An audio commentary by Richard O'Brien and Patricia Quinn will be present. The publisher announces more than three hours of bonuses including:

- In search of the new cast (2 x 30 minutes - HD - unpublished)
- The "Mick Horror Picture Show" which we propose 80 unpublished photos (HD)
- The deleted scenes and alternative
- The alternate endings
- The Rocky Horror Double Feature Video Show (36 minutes)
- Music clips
- The Trailer

We will also be entitled to five interactive modules:

- Trivia: During the screening of the movie you will see stories in PIP
- Midnight Experience: Module that displays the accessories for use in real time (rice, water, toilet paper ...) with a clickable option on virtual events to the screen.
- Rocky-Oke: A karaoke (guided by the legendary lips of the film), including all the songs
- Replicas of your choice: MCQ on replicas of the film
- Casting Special: PIP Option you will see inset image, fans replaying the movie.

The icing on the cake, we will be entitled to a very nice digibook for the occasion. Deeply September 15!

Apparently the RHPS Blu-Ray was #5 in sales last week. Keeping in mind that it's a 35 year old catalog title competing against new releases like "How To Train Your Dragon" and "Predators", that's pretty damn good.
