I imagine this has made the rounds, but in case it hasn't...

THINGS YOU MUST BELIEVE
TO BE A REPUBLICAN TODAY

Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him, and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is Communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches, while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then demand their cooperation and money.

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy, but providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart.

Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.

A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense, but a president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.

Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.

You support states' rights, but Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have the right to adopt.

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.

*Feel free to pass this on. If you don't send it to at least 10 other people, we're likely to be stuck with Bush for 4 more years.

Assumptions based on observations are so wrong. Damn liberals, seeing what the conservatives are up to and then having the gaul to talk about it. The nerve.

Like always, some are valid, others are just stupid.

I'm not a democrat, but I don't want Bush in office.

I believe techincally on the spectrum that Lindsay worked out for a couple years ago, that I am a Liberatarian. (Now wondering if I even spelled that right, lol.)

*shrug* I just don't push all my beliefs and shit on people. I don't believe in it. The only thing I was trying to say was it was irritating to hear Bush is an idiot for the... oh... fifteen billionth time and being pushed into a clump of homophobic, extreme pro-life, ultra-religious people... especially when obviously all conservatives are not like that... even my BROTHER... dear God my BROTHER who's this scary intelligent conservative mofo Jewish boy (just ask Shannon and Shawn) is pro-civil union and pro-choice. So fuck you, it's like in middle school when you're putting people into the "banger, prep, kicker" cliques.

/kicks you in the junk

For the utmost time, I was NEVER forcing any views on anyone. You may take it or not however you please. See, that's the thing. I doubt I'd care if anyone dished Kerry or a democrat. I, personally, wouldn't care one way or the other. In fact, I'd probably laugh at that joke much like me laughing at stupid guy jokes. Jokes are funny because they usually are true. That's not to say that all people fall into one simple category, or if they are of a particular class, that they fit any or all of the stereotypes. As it stands, if I practiced a specific religion, I'd be one of, if not, the most liberal Catholics out there, and the laughing stock of the Church itself. Why don't you complain about the Pope anyway? He needs a new name.

Seriously now. When people gripe over the littlest things, it makes them seem like they are in junior high. Don't mistake me, okay? I not saying that to insult you. But, kicking someone in the junk?! Whatever. Unless that's more of that sarcasm that some have been said to not be picking up.

Ashes to ashes...

Come now,
the jokes are still funny, just not the same ones over and over again. We need to liven it up with the Bush jokes.

And what he's doing is obviously so terrible, Ian felt the need to say that 3 times. Talk about overkill. But t'is and election upon us and opinions of all kinds are everywhere. For instance, just last night, as I was watching the debate with 20 or 30 liberal pals from the UT queer community, I was personally accosted by some right wing long cabin asshole (note I say asshole because of his behavior, not beliefs) who felt the need to shout something along the lines of "alright Herman Munster" after every time John Kerry spoke. This was irritating, and he did not desist after being asked several times, politely and not so politely, to cut it out. But in the nature of Free Speech, we turned the captions on the TV so no one would miss anything and glared at him. How does this little anecdote apply now you may ask? Well that is simple. While some of us may agree that if ashe simply must post these bush tirades of his, he should keep it to his LJ, but until our fearless webmaster deems these offenses so over the top he choses to do something about it, Ashe is free to do as he pleases. So, in short, If you don't like'em don't read'em.

Thank You and good night.

Well, in light of your freedom of speech example, I'm going to keep saying what I've been saying before... not all conservative people are the same... most of you refuse to recognize that... and "Bush is stupid hahahahaha" is no longer funny.

BTW if I'd been with you last nite, I would have gone over and kicked that guy in the shins. What an ass.

actually that was a mistake that i posted 3 times, but not just his politics or what he has done, i have never seen this nation so divided by a presidents decisions. i mean this cast mostly is the perfect example, you either love him or hate him. what kind of leadership is that.

Well one thing I can and will say is that every leader is going to be loved by one crowd and despised by another. It's a common fact.

Well, I can never denounce someone's opinions. It's not in my nature to be so judgemental over something so inane. I do see your main point. And, actually, I got it from an LJ, but I wanted to share it in another forum. I don't expect anyone here to be so dramatically defensive about it. That is my mistake I can tell.

Freedom of speech is why everyone's opinion is so important to this country. And why shouldn't it be? It's not just a mere opinion. It's their respective thoughts on the matter. Aren't they important to them though we all might not agree? It's one of very few good things left about this country. I'm simply not going to get all bent out of shape just because someone else doesn't agree. It really doesn't matter whether or not they see it my way either. Nor do I protest if it's right or wrong. Call me crazy, but I actually do enjoy hearing someone else's point of view ESPECIALLY if it's funny enough to be true. Perhaps, that's just me. I'm different. I would never be upset with Raini if she wanted to do the same. Maybe it's just not that important to her to make such posts, though.

Anyway. Ian had a point three times over. Just teasing. And yes, that guy would deserve to be kicked. That was tactless no matter his position. Funny in spite of that. I guess I just look at things differently. It's just not something to have heartburn over. Kidding again. There are better issues. I still recall how the "Chronicle" ran a comic that compared the photos of Bush and that kid from the "Mad" magazine cover. It's uncanny.

Ashes to ashes...

No need to yell, ass. I never ever said I supported Bush or anything he's done. In fact, if Howard Dean were running I would have voted for him. All I said was Bush jokes are not funny and I'm sick of being pushed into a category I don't belong in. So fuck you.
